What’s the difference between the old and new Spectrum Wires?

Last February we had a bit of a brain storm with our customers and did the bleedin’ obvious – listened to what you told us!

You told us that in our Full Wire Packs there were two of the smaller sizes that no-one really used unless they were doing ridiculously high graded routes involving stupidly steep rock with a distinct lack of holds.
Good point, we thought and forthwith we have changed the numbering on our wires from 1-11 to ¼-9. It’s a subtle but necessary change so that now it is very obvious that the ¼ & ½ size are more of a micro wire leaving the beefier 1-9 for us mortal souls that prefer a more substantial size of protection.

And that’s not all……

For all you clever puppies who are marvelling at our Mandlesson-esque spin and wondering why you should be capering about in ecstasy over getting two less wires for your money – we would like to add that each of the 9 wires in your new set has been upgraded so that the wire runs in a continuous circle through the nut improving performance in side placements. Oh, and the same has been done on the ¼ & ½ size too.

So there you have it; an upgraded range offering a more useable solution to the vast majority of climbers and the freedom (as always) to buy each one individually to boost your rack and enhance your own performance at your own pace.
